What display image does an upconvert dvd player display.? - dvd upconvert 720p 1080p

At the moment I have just bought a new Sony 1080p LCD TV. But my Xbox 360 is the DVD playback in 480p format. This is a DVD player upconverted 720p atleast they go? He knew not 1080p, but defintly want something higher than 480p?
